Firm
GDHarley & Associates, Inc.
Mr. Harley organized the original architectural and land planning firm in Boston in 1991 after having served as a Senior Architect and Senior Associate at Sasaki Associates in Watertown, Massachusetts. During this period, we served as Owner’s Architect for the Boston High-rise Office Building (One Beacon Street) and other suburban office parks under ownership, at that time, by Prudential Real Estate Investors. We also were successful in serving various high-tech companies as they occupied new Headquarter facilities in Metro-West Boston including 75,000 SF ‘Fast-Track’ fit-out for SAP America’s initial regional headquarters. We also completed a major Master Planning Study for the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority, for re-use of the former GE Facility in Fitchburg, Massachusetts creating the New Putnam Place Business and Industrial Center. We also completed serving as Investor Representative (for Prudential Real Estate Investors) for the Historic Tax Credit Redevelopment of the 750,000 SF Watertown Arsenal office / Mixed-Use complex (The Arsenal on the Charles) later sold to Harvard.
Ten years later, when the 9/11 tragedy occurred, Mr. Harley was trapped out-of-the-country, after his return he was forced to confront real estate market uncertainties and impact on the firm’s on-going projects and dealing with simultaneous health challenges. He reorganized the firm in 2001, with offices located in the Bradford Furniture Office Complex in West Concord, Massachusetts.
This reorganization included adding 3rd Party Consulting services to our core architectural capabilities, centered on an assignment to serve as Investor Representative for Arsenal Real Estate Funds for delivery of 1,500 units of ‘Work Force’ Apartments on six different properties in the Texas market. Later we relocated to our current larger offices in Lowell, Massachusetts. We also benefit from having a 3rd Party Regional Inspector working out of Pensacola, Florida, this inspector serves various USNavy bases and other clients in the Florida panhandle and the wider Southeastern USA related to our 3rd Party Consulting services including support for recent hurricane damage assessment and repair projects.
We do not provide single home inspections as defined by most local jurisdictions or required by home purchase closing requirements, we are organized to conduct our construction inspections related to commercial real estate.

The COVID-19 period:
Similar to many professional firms, we have tailored our services during this difficult time to respond to local and CDC Health, Travel and Construction Site Coronavirus Guidelines. All of our employees also hold the OSHA Ten-Hour Worker Safety Training certification.
We also benefit from our relationship with Balfour Beatty Communities, Northeast Housing LLC, Southeast Housing LLC, and the USNavy having been declared as an Essential Business. This designation is specific to our Architectural, Renewable Energy and 3rd Party Services related to being considered a firm engaged in delivery of ‘essential critical federal infrastructure’ or ‘essential business’ or business ‘necessary to sustain life’ within the meaning in various State and Federal Executive Orders and related to various current on-going projects ranging from Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard in Kittery, Maine to Naval Air Station Key West, Key West, Florida.
